Regarding the Nov. 14 letter from G.R. Zepeda, please allow me to respond.
The reason 71 percent of Hispanics voted for President Barack Obama is because he is more like them than Mitt Romney is. Speaking as a moderate who also voted for Obama, my values are not unlike Zepeda’s. I believe in religious freedom, low taxes, small government and our Constitution. I also believe that I do not have the right to tell others how to choose, whether it be regarding their bodies or their marriages.
Obama backed the DREAM Act, and Republicans, including Romney, opposed it. Obama paved the way for young Hispanics to have a path to U.S. citizenship. These are also goals I support.
If, as Zepeda asserts, job creation is minimal, then he has to look no further than the opponents of Obama in Congress, who blocked his proposed legislation that would create new jobs. Gas prices are not the product of the president, but of the greed within the oil companies. The size of government has gone down under Obama (the facts check out).

The 71 percent got it and they weren’t buying the empty message that Romney was selling.
