I come from a long line of Republicans, and until four years and two weeks ago, I was one myself. It happened that I accidentally tuned in to Rush Limbaugh (this was one day after the election). And what was big-mouth doing? He was bashing Barack Obama.
This man had not been in the office of president for 24 hours, and he was being ripped apart by this loud-mouthed, egomaniacal, lying jerk. It was at this point that I decided that, and to take off on a remark of Groucho Marks, I didn’t want to be a member of any group that would have him as a member and as a spokesperson for their party. It absolutely ended my connection with the Republicans and truly makes me wonder about those who listen to him.
I was 8 years old before I found out that Roosevelt’s first name was Franklin, and not “ThatDamn.” My ancestors are flipping around in their respective crypts at my move, but I know that if they had heard Limbaugh, they would have split too.
