Expanding 'we'

All Republican leaders are acknowledging that “the diverse American demographic” needs to be reckoned with. I think it would be helpful if all people would consciously work on expanding their definition of “we.” Expand the picture of who you identify with to include all God’s children, for we are all loved equally.

Another suggestion is to consciously work on moving from the level of conceptual thinking to practicing a feeling level of being. Imagine the feelings of a Mexican couple being fearful for the welfare of their beloved children in today’s Mexican violent society (which we have helped create through our drug consumption). Imagine the terror of a 16-year-old pregnant girl who feels like her life is over because of an accidental pregnancy.

The development of compassion through the tool of our imagination, that is worthy of reflection. Perhaps our path toward inner and outer peace begins with that.
