Mary N. Parker - Former director of Nursing/Allied Health Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo

October 24, 2012 05:46 AM

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Barbara George at Cuesta College for more than 20 years. Together, we were able to establish Nursing and Allied Health scholarships for students who would be working in our community. Barbara was also instrumental in helping to cultivate and develop financial resources for equipment, supplies and resources for the Nursing and Allied Health programs. Having adequate financial support was critical to the success of our students and programs, which provide a qualified and well-trained workforce for our community. I was always humbled by Barbara’s commitment to student success and excellence.

I cannot think of a more perfect candidate for the Cuesta College board. Bar bara has demonstrated excellence in her service as an employee of the college (where she attended board of trustee meetings regularly), her experience on accreditation boards, her service to nonprofit organizations, and her in-depth understanding of the community and Cuesta.

Adam Hill’s rant comes as no surprise, says Terri Stricklin of Nipomo. Why has it taken him so long to break the “civility” rules he loves to talk about?
