It was good to read the Oct. 15 article “Hunger in county gets a hard look.” Let me address the part of the article that expressed a concern for people who may not be aware of the programs available in their community.
It is a real blessing to have our Food Bank in our community of Paso Robles. I purchase my food from them for serving lunch at Christ Kitchen, 2nd Baptist Church, at 1937 Riverside St. in Paso Robles. The church has served “excellent” meals five days a week for 25 years, Monday through Friday off the parking lot from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and in the house adjacent to church from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Also, be aware that St. James Church, at 1335 Oak St. in Paso Robles, serves lunch from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
This service affords all people for all reasons. Perhaps your gasoline bill has hit the maximum, causing you to make a decision between nutritious meals for your family and gas for work — or any other reason, it does not matter. Then go to the churches above, where you will find a wonderful environment of people to sit down with and break bread.
