A fallout of the new ban on plastic bags became known to me Tuesday, Oct. 2, while shopping at a local market. I stopped to peruse the display in the bakery section with my reusable bag and shopping cart located at my side. After choosing a loaf of bread and placing same in the cart, I noticed my reusable bag was missing. Thus I checked the cart and surrounding area, but the bag was nowhere to be found. Obviously someone took the bag so they didn’t have to pay the 10-cent paper bag charge at the checkout stand. Hopefully this type of theft won’t prevail, but SLO County shoppers — keep your reusable bags in view at all times.
