Three incumbents on our San Luis Obispo City Council earned The Tribune endorsement. Their philosophies and styles differ, but they have served us ably. I was particularly pleased that Mayor Marx was given high marks. She is bright and capable and has grown by facing the practical realities of guiding the city towards fiscal strength, while working to protect our livable environment. Marx has long been a champion of preserving our pristine hills and has worked consistently to support a strong downtown.
When she earns reelection as mayor, I trust she and the full council will work towards long term solutions, rather than just citations. If all incumbents are re-elected and the very capable Andrew Carter steps down, I’d like to see a bright newcomer like Jeff Aranguena fill his seat. Thanks for encouraging him.
