John Braun (Letters, Sept. 12) is surely to be congratulated for his frugal lifestyle and for living below his means.
Clearly he hasn’t lost his home to fire, flood or other natural disasters, so that he required the help of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. And obviously, no elderly relative ran out of money late in life, thus requiring help from Medicaid to help pay nursing home bills.
I’m certain that when he becomes eligible for Medicare, Mr. Braun will watch carefully to ensure that he does not use the program beyond the amount he actually put into Medicare during his working career, since that would mean participating in an entitlement program. Those darn Democrats.
