A huge development, the Leitcher House project is seeking approval for construction covering a vacant lot from the Children’s Museum to the historic Leitcher House and Monterey Street down to San Luis Creek. The project’s five buildings are designed to disguise the mass of the complex by incorporating a variety of materials, colors and balconies.
The complexity of design elements meshes well with our historical downtown, which is commendable.
However, these structures will tower 50 feet above the creek bank without setbacks. With Tom’s Toys at 40 feet on the opposite side, our beautiful San Luis Creek rippling through the historic downtown core will be enclosed in an overbearing canyon.
The many large trees and creekside vegetation will be displaced by towering stucco walls. Who would walk the creek walk from Broad Street to the Nipomo pedestrian bridge with high rises towering over you? Please join in stating your concerns before our elected officials about retaining our beautiful downtown.
