What a stretch columnist Leonard Pitts makes: Michele Bachmann questions Hilary Clinton’s having a Muslim aide and alleges she has ties to Islamic extremism, and that causes some skinhead to kill Sikhs two weeks later, so obviously it was Bachmann’s fault! He also characterizes conservatives as “opposition to taxation, government, immigrants, blacks, gays, abortion and Muslims.”
Wow! What a mouthful, and untrue. Well, Mr. Pitts Jr., I consider myself a conservative, and what I look for in government in addition to providing the basics (a military to keep us safe and all other programs only the government can provide) is fiscal responsibility. In people of any race, color, religion or personal persuasion, I only ask they embrace personal responsibility and historic American culture.
I don’t mind paying taxes and believe everyone should pay some. I am a U.S. citizen and therefore do have the right to believe life is precious, marriage should be between one man and one woman, and it’s OK to live and let live. Frankly, I’m tired of the ACLU and minority groups taking God out of anything to do with government — do we go back to honoring Baal?
The USA is a Christian nation; it will be for a long time to come. We don’t need sharia law, the Ten Commandments have done quite well for thousands of years.
