Conclusions that say 260-decibel sound blasts wouldn’t cause problems run counter to science. Fish and Game Commissioners said it will cause instant, permanent deafness in great blue whales and other animals.
Seismic tests are only good for giving PG&E something to do besides closing this nuclear plant sitting on earthquake faults and for Bruce Gibson and his buddies to switch the testing to an oil company vessel so they can look for oil. There is no upside to these tests for the rest of us. Fishermen will be put on welfare with a one-time payoff by PG&E. The recently created Point Buchon State Marine Reserve will be cleansed of all life.
The tests themselves could set off an earthquake! There are two faults beneath the plant, and there are three nearby faults that can act together as one gigantic 250-mile-long fault, capable of generating a quake Diablo can never be retrofitted to withstand.
Whales are too precious to sacrifice for a company who showed in the San Bruno gas blasts they don’t care about public safety, and when the earthquakes come, Diablo will be the biggest nuclear conflagration in world history. Take that plant down ASAP.
