Isn’t it interesting to see the fiscal problems Grover Beach is having?
The refusal of the City Council to lower the speed limit in the downtown area to create a pedestrian-friendly and business-friendly neighborhood has resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of tax dollars that would be generated by making the town a fun place to visit and shop.
Since I have sold my business in Grover and moved to Nipomo, it really does not concern me any longer, but I still feel for the business owners on Grand Avenue who have a secondary freeway down Grand Avenue and are losing so many potential customers because of the speed of the traffic, which by state law in a downtown area should be 25 mph. You can find this in your drivers handbook at any DMV.
Why anyone would want to rush through town as fast as possible is hard to understand. It’s up to you who live there to demand slower traffic from your City Council and make Grover a safe and fun place to do business. Good luck!
