Letter: Where's the responsibility?

Bob Brimmer - Atascadero

So lawmakers are giving out pay raises of up to 10 percent while others are taking pay cuts; we’re spending how many billions on a railroad system; and the state parks are sitting on $54 million. Where is the accountably in the state? And Gov. Jerry Brown wants us to pass a tax increase.

I’m voting no! But here’s a novel idea: Maybe the lawmakers should start paying for their own gas and lunch. Maybe it’s time for the lawmakers to take pay cuts, at least 20 percent. Maybe the state should stop giving away freebies. Maybe more people should be responsible for their lives.

Voting no in November.

Reading most opinion and editorial pieces these days often leaves us little to find encouraging, says Gary Brennan of Arroyo Grande. The high percentage of Americans cited who still believe in the American dream is encouraging.
