The tree mural mêlée in Atascadero has turned wonderfully instructive.
The city’s design review committee — all appointees of a Tea Party dominated City Council — is perfectly representative of the very blowhards who never miss an opportunity to flourish the Bill of Rights in defense of government oppressed small business folk, but who are, in fact, the same petty tyrants they claim to resist.
And, yes, here they are — council and committee alike — bullying the dickens out of ARTery owners Bobbi Nunez and Bill Arkfeld who have dared to exercise their First, Fifth and 14th Amendment rights by artistically decorating the tiny art store they own in downtown Atascadero without big government’s permission.
And not a single COLAB or Tea Party stalwart or District 5 supervisor-elect has risen in their defense.
