Some months ago after knowledge of the Penn State scandal I wrote a letter saying how I felt Joe Paterno and other officials at the university had knowledge of Jerry Sandusky’s actions, attempted to cover it up and thus were complicit in the crime.
For this, I was taken to task by a letter writer who spent much time telling me how wrong I was and all but put a halo on Paterno’s head. Well, after all is said and done, it looks like I was right and they have painted over the halo on the Penn State mural.
I love college football and watch it whenever I get a chance, but the sport is not that big. No scandal such as this should ever be ignored or swept aside just to preserve an image or a program. The NCAA was right to impose the sanctions and I hope the Joe Paterno statue is put away in some dark warehouse.
