Upon a cursory search on the Internet, I was unable to ascertain the entity, organization or person who dubbed San Luis Obispo “happy town.” Something or someone must have proclaimed SLO “happy town.” Much to my dismay, “happy town” has become the mantra of SLO. I have always had a problem with misnomers.
No smoking anywhere in SLO. You heard me right, not even in the streets. Don’t forget to take a couple of finns for parking fees. Your alcohol intake will be monitored (the bar keep will decide how much you drink, not you). The diversity of SLO is white, white and white.
What is this “happy town” slogan all about? I can’t seem to get my head around it. For me, happiness is a modicum of freedom, or even the illusion of freedom.
