Letter: Change in evidence

What is it going to take for people to get mad and demand that governments do something about climate change? There have been 41,000 temperature records broken already this year in the United States alone! Horrific wildfires, torrential floods and devastating droughts are exacting an enormous economic and human toll. This is what climate change looks like, folks, and it’s only going to get worse with inaction.

I’m fed up with the skeptics and climate change deniers sabotaging my home, my pocketbook, my future. I’m exasperated by people who refuse to lower their own carbon footprint. It’s just plain selfish not to drive a fuel-efficient car or use CFLs or eat less meat or adjust the thermostat or to not make the many other small lifestyle changes that allow us to share the planet more equitably. It’s high time to step up both personal and collective action to solve this problem.
