Let me begin by saying how good it is to know our teachers are inspiring more students in California to stay in school and graduate.
However, what can our state legislators be thinking about when they even talk about shortening the school year? Our future is our children and without a good education, they cannot possibly succeed in their lives. We need the best teachers, the most challenging classes and the very best encouragement for our young people.
Public education in our country has been the backbone of our future and it is great to learn that Cal Poly graduates are able to get jobs. But please don’t forget that kindergarten through high school is where everyone gets a start.
