The voiceover at the Santa Barbara airport terminal ended by saying, “There is no smoking, except for designated smoking areas.”
A designated place for smokers? Seems like Santa Barbara isn’t worried about their image as a “nonsmoker’s paradise.” They are willing to accommodate smokers. Makes sense, as a lot of tourists to Santa Barbara are foreign and they smoke more in other countries.
Because San Luis Obispo County is so tourist-dependent, it would be interesting to see how much tax money is gained or lost due to the unaccommodating smoking policy.
