Joe Tarica’s principal opposition to the opening of a Walmart in Atascadero remains unsaid in his column, Joetopia, “Atascadero shoppers deserve better,” published July 1.
Calling a Walmart “the cheap-o-est store of them all,” Tarica can’t bring himself to state honestly why liberals oppose the opening of a new Walmart in Atascadero or anywhere else in this country: The employees at Walmart are non-union.
Non-union employees mean no union dues to financially support primarily liberal Democrat candidates and causes, especially during election years.
From the perspective of Tarica and others of his ilk, better that the 250 or so people who would fill jobs at the Atascadero Walmart remain on the unemployed rolls rather than take jobs beyond the dictates of union bosses.
