The Senior Nutrition Program of San Luis Obispo County would like to thank the sponsors, donors and volunteers who made its fifth annual “Night of a Million Meals” fundraiser on May 5 our most successful event yet. Over 200 attendees enjoyed the fourcourse dinner and silent and live auctions at the event, held at the Embassy Suites hotel.
Special thanks go to our emcee Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian. Many local businesses, wineries and individuals contributed to the event. This fundraiser is a large part of our ongoing fundraising efforts to meet the ever-increasing need among seniors in our communities.
The Senior Nutrition Program of San Luis Obispo County provides hot noontime meals to approximately 2,000 seniors throughout the county, serving over 170,000 meals annually at no charge to participants. The program relies on a workforce of over 200 volunteers working out of 10 dining rooms across the county.
Seniors who are able to attend eat their meals and socialize at the centers, but most meals are delivered to homebound seniors. For more information about SNPSLO or to donate, call 541-3312 or go to www.snpslo.org.
