Support for Blues
I am writing to thank this great community for its outstanding support of San Luis Blues Baseball this summer. You helped us to achieve many firsts, and we’d like to show our gratitude by sharing them with you.
With support of its fans, for the first time ever, the Blues earned a share of the California Collegiate League title. Head coach Chal Fanning reaching 300 wins was another first. Most important to us, you helped us to one of our highest season attendance levels ever; over 18,000 cheered us on this summer!
It is our great pleasure and honor that you chose to spend your evenings and lazy days of summer with us. Please know that we will continually strive to provide the best family environment possible. We cannot survive without your support and thank you deeply for your loyalty.
Thank you also to the supportive host families and our business partners and to the city’s Parks and Recreation Department and its director, Jim Bremer, for providing such a wonderful venue.
We look forward to another great year in 2012. See you at the ballpark!

Religion not needed
Growing up in Italy, I studied Italian history and learned that Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour (Ben Franklin of Italy), and Giuseppe Garibaldi (Che Guevara of Italy) were the founders of the Italian republic.
The last thing Camillo told the priest who gave him last rites was to always keep the church and the state separate.
I believe that there is nothing wrong with a politician being of one religion of another. I do object to politicians wearing their religion on their sleeves to appeal to a certain segment of the electorate. I think they’re hypocrites.
I believe atheists and agnostics can be excellent politicians and leaders as long as they have common sense and a good moral compass.
I think most religious people are agnostics in their gut. They believe in God and accept the tenets of their religions, but they have doubts and struggle with them daily. I think president Obama is an agnostic, deep down.
A significant part of our electorate believes that, unless a presidential candidate is religious, and more exactly a Christian and a Protestant, he/she is not qualified to be president.
What a ridiculous notion!
So, you thought America had an actual budget. We would not be in this financial mess if the American government had a real budget.
What the government really has is an expenditure program. It is very good at making worthless dollars and spending them (or giving them away) without regard to a budget, as you and I know it.
