There’s been another tragic death at the Oceano Dunes. On Aug. 30, Leo Esqueda, a 27-year-old Fresno man, was killed as he rolled his Chevy Blazer down the face of a dune.
Since EMT Christopher Meadows died in 2009 while attempting to rescue a downed rider, there have been at least five more deaths at the Dunes, including 52-year-old Bryon Tatum of Grover Beach.
Today, it’s business as usual at the ridiculously dangerous “recreational” area. How many more senseless deaths need to occur there before some meaningful changes take place?
