John Peschong is confusing (or conflating?) the rights of laborers with the rights of developers (Viewpoint, “Laboring to thrive amid regulation,” Sept. 6).
The frail, parched environment needs protecting, and a new subdivision or shopping center will only make matters worse.
Local regulations and policies should address the specifics, along with broader state and federal rules. On the other hand, if it’s infrastructure he really cares about, I assume he wrote columns urging support of President Barack Obama’s job and infrastructure bills, but I doubt it. Republicans blocked those attempts to rebuild infrastructure and create jobs.
