On July 15, John Gajdos of Morro Bay (“Party of ‘You can’t,’ ” Letters) — apparently in defense of a Republican/Ayn Rand philosophy — wrote, “I can make decisions regarding my safety and my lifestyle. I can be responsible for the results of those decisions. I should be able to make the decision not to wear my seat belt or motorcycle helmet. I am solely responsible for the results.”
Which, I presume, means that when John crashes and is lying on the freeway with a fractured skull, he, being responsible for his own decisions, will wave off government-supported first-responders in favor of his own preplanned private rescuers.
All President Barack Obama meant by “You didn’t build that” is that you don’t get your goods to market without the roads and bridges everyone pays for, and all of these Ayn Rand idiots know that.
