Charleston, S.C., should certainly be a wake-up call for our government to do something positive regarding gun control.
A problem that seems to be a part of the intolerable situation that we appear to be in is the lack of humanity that exists here in America, the easy availability of guns has undoubtedly led to the number of recent homicides.History, too, plays a role. Our strong love affair with guns goes back to the frontier days.
There is also disturbing racial intolerance that influences attitudes, which has been a part of many of our relationships going back to colonial days with the buildup of slavery and our relationships with the former owners of the land, Native Americans.
Here are some steps that should be taken to change this frightful picture:
