Be serious, close city

The San Luis Obispo City Council has voted to stop buying stocks from companies that support production of, or drilling for, fossil fuels (“SLO won’t invest in fossil fuels or tobacco,” June 27).

Such tokenism seems to be big among small-minded people. If the council is serious about this “initiative,” they should immediately stop all use of fossil fuels by the city government.

No electricity generated by fossil fuel plants — wait though, we don’t like that dangerous nuclear power plant either.

OK, no electricity at all unless it’s solar or wind generated. No natural gas powered vehicles for city use. Let’s shut the city down to show them we’re serious.
