On the Charleston shooting: There are no words, but much needs to be said. We have failed our children if we leave them the legacies of hatred, racism and division that continue to plague our country. All of us together is what makes the U.S. a great country. Let’s not let this moment pass like so many others have passed — with words of sorrow but no action. Actions don’t have to be big to have a big impact. Next time you see or hear an act of racism or sexism or intolerance of any kind — even “just a joke” — don’t stay silent. Say, “You do not speak for me.”
