I have just returned to Australia from a brief stay in SLO where I visited my son who is a basketball player with Cuesta. This letter is really just to say what a wonderful city SLO is and that every single person we met was warm and friendly and made us feel oh so welcome.
I know its easy to spot an Aussie by our strange accent, but I noticed people being helpful and friendly to each other, too. In this world of challenges and troubles, being civil and nice to each other is such a great start. Thanks to everyone we encountered. Our only challenge during our trip was working out how much things actually cost. What with taxes, and tipping, the price is not the price at all, so that certainly took a bit of getting used to. Oh, and a final observation — your wines are second to none. I’ll try and track some down here in Oz. Cheers!
