Thank you for publishing Creators Syndicate editorial cartoon in your Feb. 17 edition.
The cartoon shows the Democrat asking this question, “And why wouldn’t more gun regulations reduce mass shootings?” The Republican replies, “Because there’s no such thing as a law-abiding homicidal maniac.”
Yes, I do feel that there should be a more thorough background check on anyone purchasing a rifle or a handgun. But I’m also in favor of schools, businesses and public buildings taking down the signs indicating they are gun free and allowing those trained to use a gun, and who have a concealed carry permit, to enter the building. A gun-free environment says to the intended mass killer that he or she will be unopposed while in the commission of a crime.
It seems to me that these homicidal maniacs have all chosen gun-free places because they don’t wish to die. Case in point: The most recent killer is willing to plead guilty if he is assured of not getting the death penalty.
