I used to enjoy articles by conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer, even though I often disagreed with him. I wondered why The Tribune dropped his essays.
Recently, a reader suggested that was because Mr. Krauthammer was critical of Trump. And since you’ve been trying to placate right wing malcontents who regularly slam The Trib for its alleged “liberal bias,” this did not sit well with supporters of Dear Leader. You ought to understand that the alt-right/Trump cultists don’t want balance, fairness or articles from smart, traditional conservatives. They want alternative facts.
They prefer the toxic, nihilistic swill dispensed by Breitbart, The Daily Stormer, Alex Jones’ Infowars, Rush Limbaugh, the National Enquirer and of course, Faux “News.”
The Tribune pledged to offer more conservative voices last year and that’s admirable, providing those voices come from honorable, thoughtful people like George Will, David Brooks and the aforementioned Charles Krauthammer. In my opinion, you’re wasting time and print attempting to satisfy “conservatives” who think the FBI are bad guys while a Russian dictator, oligarchs and mobsters are good guys.
