Just this week, two writers let us know how shameful, unpatriotic and perhaps even treasonous it was for Democratic legislators to not cheer, clap, stand and shout hosanna during President Trump’s State of the Union address. Perhaps I missed something here? Or were these writers simply parroting the recent words of President Trump? Please can we have originality?
I don’t remember either of these writers making similar comments when President Obama gave eight similar addresses to Congress and the Republican legislators sat like stone bricks. Nor did any of the “sitters” yell “you lie” as occurred during an Obama address.
Let’s remind these recent writers that in a democracy you have the right to protest and show your disfavor. Protest is as simple as American apple pie. To simply go along with the crowd would be similar to how the German’s behaved under Hitler or the Fascist behaved under Mussolini. I even believe one of the writers called the “sitters” fascist. No they were not of that ilk. They were simply Americans expressing their dislike for the ideas being presented.
