On Saturday, Aug. 26, 30 members of the Carpenters Union Local 1800 volunteered their precious personal time to the Child Development Resource Center (CDRC) in San Luis Obispo. The hardworking volunteers built a new shade structure and improved another (just in time for the massive heat wave the following week), reinforced fences with proper framing and privacy screens, reinforced our ball wall, built shelves and fixed doors and door frames. The improvements the carpenters made to the school not only improve the aesthetics, but the safety of our center as well.
Community spirit comes in many forms, but the gift of volunteer time is one of the most important. It is selfless and reaches beyond just community and into the hearts of all of those who have the privilege of benefiting from the time generously given.
CDRC would like to extend our endless gratitude to the Carpenters Union Local 1800. They have ensured that CDRC is not only a fun and enriching place for the children to spend their days — but a safe one, too.
