Mike Bennett’s Viewpoint published Sept. 3(“Another cyclist has died in SLO County; it’s time to act,”) discussed in part the deaths of three people killed on our local highways as a result of driving under the influence. I can only wonder what the death rate will be because of DUI once the sale of recreational marijuana is legal.

Also published the same day was Louis Gibson’s Viewpoint concerning misuse of highway funds by Caltrans. I watched with disbelief as Caltrans built “gore tips” through Atascadero as I dodged potholes on the highway.
