Regarding her letter, “Obama had 8 years. Now give Trump a chance” (June 24), I have two points in response: Ms. Blishak asserts that Mr. Trump has shown a desire “to make a better life for all.” However, analysis of Trump’s tax and health care plans suggest his primary desire is to make “a better life” for corporations and the super rich, at the expense of the poor, the elderly and the middle class.
As for giving Trump a chance: Obama was elected president and McCain lost. Did the Republicans get over it, and give Obama a chance? No!
Obama was elected president for a second term, and Romney lost. Did the Republicans get over it and give Obama a chance? No!
After Obama’s election, Sen. Mitch McConnell’s primary objective was to make Obama a one-term president. During the eight years of Obama’s term, Republicans have done all in their power to obstruct his initiatives, especially targeting his Affordable Care Act. After less than a year of the Trump administration, President Trump has earned the lowest popularity rating since he took office, while support for his impeachment is now higher than his approval rating, Newsweek reports.
