Four present and former members of the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors have endorsed Katcho Achadjian in his bid for the state Assembly.
Frank Mecham joined with former Supervisors Bill Coy, Harry Ovitt and Jerry Lenthall in endorsing Achadjian, who is soon finishing his third term on the board.
Achadjian — who is also on the California Coastal Commission — is in a crowded field for the 33rd District Assembly seat, which is being vacated by Sam Blakeslee next year because he will have served the maximum three terms.
Blakeslee has not endorsed anyone, and is gathering money for a run at a higher office.

Achadjian's opponents in the Republican primary include Henrietta "Etta" Waterfield, a Santa Maria planning commissioner, Paso Robles City Councilman Fred Strong and former Santa Maria City Councilman Marty Mariscal.
The winner of that race will likely face Santa Maria Mayor Pro Tem Hilda Zacarias, the only announced Democrat.
