SLO County weather forecast for the week of March 25

Here is this week’s weather forecast by PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey.

Weather report

The ridge of high pressure responsible for this weekend’s clear skies and mild temperatures will weaken today. This condition will produce persistent northwesterly onshore winds. This onshore flow will allow marine low clouds and fog to develop during the night and morning along the coast and the coastal valleys of San Luis Obispo County through Wednesday morning.

A weak low-pressure system will slowly approach the Central Coast on Wednesday afternoon into Thursday and will bring increasing mid- to high-level clouds and perhaps a few scattered rain showers.

Unfortunately, most San Luis Obispo County locations will probably not receive any rainfall. Friday will be partly cloudy and windy.

Although details are uncertain, it appears that another, but stronger, low-pressure weather system will track south this weekend and bring showers later Saturday into Sunday, the last day of March. In any event, much cooler daytime conditions appear likely.

Surf report

Today’s 3- to 5–foot northwesterly (305-degree deep-water) sea and swell (with a 7- to 13-second period) will remain at this height and period through Tuesday.

A 3- to 5-foot northwesterly (295-degree deep-water) swell (with an 8- to 16-second period) is forecast along the Central Coast on Wednesday through Thursday.

Increasing northwesterly winds will generate 4- to 6-foot northwesterly (310-degree deep-water) sea and swell (with a 7- to 11-second period) Friday into Saturday.

Arriving from the Southern Hemisphere: Today’s 1- to 2-foot Southern Hemisphere (195-degree deep-water) swell (with a 16- to 18-second period) will remain at this height but with a shorter interval through Tuesday.

Seawater temperatures

Seawater temperatures will range between 51 and 53 degrees through Saturday.
