Freezing temperatures expected overnight

Make sure your pets are indoors and sensitive outdoor plants are protected overnight this weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday mornings in coastal areas of San Luis Obispo County, as well as a hard freeze warning for inland valleys of the county.

At least two hours of temperatures between 32 degrees and 35 degrees are likely late Friday night through Saturday morning, and again late Saturday night and early Sunday, in the coastal areas.

Highs on Saturday and Sunday are expected to be in the lower to mid 50s at the beaches to the low 60s inland.

Strong northeasterly winds of 19 to 31 mph also are expected overnight, decreasing and shifting out of the northwest during the afternoons through Tuesday, according to PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey.
