Heat breaks records around SLO County

Another dose of unseasonably warm weather baked the Central Coast on Thursday, setting records in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles.

The mercury at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport hit 90 degrees, breaking the old record of 84 set in 1988, according to PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey. In Paso Robles, a high of 91 toppled the previous 1988 record of 88 degrees.

Santa Maria reached 93 but fell shy of the old record of 95 degrees, also set in 1988.

The strong ridge of high pressure that caused Thursday’s record highs will weaken Friday, Lindsey said, resulting in cooler temperatures and low clouds along the coast.
