SLO County could hit nearly 100 degrees this week. See the latest forecast
Summer has arrived to San Luis Obispo County as some areas face temperatures near 100 degrees this week and into the weekend.
Here’s what to expect in local weather:
Heat advisory issued for SLO and Paso Robles
Both San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles will be under a heat advisory warning on Wednesday, with the National Weather Service forecasting temperatures as high as 92 degrees in SLO and 99 degrees in Paso Robles.
The advisory is expected to be in effect between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
During the advisory, the weather service warned there is a high risk for heat illness for sensitive populations like the “very young, the very old, those without air conditioning and those active outdoors.”
People were urged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
What will weekend look like in SLO County?
Looking ahead — and just in time for Cal Poly’s graduation ceremonies — temperatures in SLO are expected to drop a bit during the weekend, with a high of 83 degrees on Friday and 76 degrees on Saturday.
Paso Robles will still see warmer temperatures, however, with a forecasted 95 degree high on Friday and 93 degrees on Saturday.
Meanwhile, along the coast, Morro Bay will see temperatures peak at about 71 degrees on Friday, before settling into the mid-60s through most of the weekend with mostly sunny skies.
Down in Pismo Beach, temperatures will hit a high of about 74 degrees on Friday, according to the weather service, and fall to the high-60s for Saturday and Sunday. That area should expect partly cloudy skies through the weekend.
