Flood watch issued for SLO County through Christmas Eve
A flood watch has been issued for parts of San Luis Obispo County through much of Christmas week.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy rainfall is expected to cause flooding as well as the possibility of mud and debris flows in areas of San Luis Obispo County from Tuesday afternoon through Christmas Eve on Wednesday.
The parts of San Luis Obispo County that could be impacted include SLO County beaches, inland Central Coast, interior valleys and mountains, the National Weather Service alert reads.
The agency advised people living in the potentially impacted areas to monitor later forecasts and prepare to take action in the event of developed flooding.
On Saturday, the National Weather Service shared on its X account details for the atmospheric river that is expected to hit San Luis Obispo as well as Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
About 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected and the weather may continue beyond Christmas, although confidence is low, the post read.
