Atascadero: Measure I leading in early vote count

Atascadero school district voters appeared to favor Measure I, a $117 million bond measure, clearing the way for what supporters say is much-needed work at aging campuses.

Proposed projects at the Atascadero Unified School District include a new performing arts center at Atascadero High School and renovating or moving Atascadero Junior High School.

Property owners will pay $59 per $100,000 of assessed value per year.

Meanwhile, incumbents Donn Clickard, George Dodge and Tami Gunther held their school board seats. They were joined by income tax adviser Ray Buban, trailed by retired drywall contractor Gordon West. Businessman Bret Heinemann and college student Kenneth Block drew fewer votes.
