Join the search for tsunami debris

The Environmental Center of San Luis Obispo will hold the last of four tsunami debris cleanups Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Montaña de Oro State Park sand spit.

Volunteers are asked to gather at the sand spit parking lot and bring reusable gloves and a bucket or bag and carpool to the event.

The cleanup is one of many that have been held this year along the West Coast in order to collect debris from the 2011 Japanese tsunami. To date, 27 items of debris have been collected that can be traced back to the tsunami.
