Montaña de Oro State Park is looking for 75 volunteers this Saturday to help with a variety of maintenance and improvement projects.
The event is part of the California State Parks Foundation’s Earth Day Restoration and Cleanup. Volunteers are asked to check in at 9 a.m. at Islay Creek Campground and plan on working until 12:30 p.m.
Projects to be tackled include trail maintenance at Reservoir Flats Trail, repair and replacement of a bluff fence at Islay Campground and the planting of native species. The effort is funded by a grant by Pacific Gas and Electric Co.
The event is one of 24 planned statewide to help make up for the shortfall in maintenance in State Parks. It is estimated that $1.4 billion in maintenance has been deferred.
