Meetings address greenhouse gases

Meetings will be held today in Templeton and Grover Beach so residents from Paso Robles to Arroyo Grande have a chance to provide input on potential greenhouse gas reduction strategies in their cities.

Cities in San Luis Obispo County are working with the Air Pollution Control District to prepare climate action plans to cost-effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining or improving the quality of life for residents and reducing costs for individuals and businesses, according to the air district.

This project involves preparing individual climate action plans consistent with the goals of Assembly Bill 32 for the cities of Atascadero, Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, Morro Bay, Paso Robles and Pismo Beach, in partnership with PG&E, Southern California Gas Co. and the air district.

The city of San Luis Obispo and the county have already approved plans. Some elected officials, including members of the Atascadero City Council and Planning Commission, are expected to attend the workshops.

The Templeton meeting, geared toward Atascadero and Paso Robles residents, starts 6:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of Templeton Elementary School, 215 Eighth St.

The Grover Beach meeting is intended for residents of Arroyo Grande, Grover, Morro Bay and Pismo Beach. It will also start at 6:30 p.m. at the Ramona Garden Park Center, 993 Ramona Ave.
