Students at Atascadero’s San Benito Road Elementary School worked together Tuesday to plant a tree on campus.

The European mountain ash tree was donated to the school by the Paso Robles Multiflora Garden Club to help celebrate California Arbor Week. Club volunteers and students from Yvette Nowak's third-grade class helped plant the tree together.

California Arbor Week is this week (March 7-14) and is not to be confused with National Arbor Day, which is April 24 this year.

The weeklong program reaches statewide to encourage communities to work together to raise awareness for nature and trees, according to www.californiareleaf.org.
