Community members are encouraged to join Cal Poly students in volunteering to help nonprofit agencies in San Luis Obispo County on Oct. 25 as part of Make a Difference Day.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the county. Last year, more than 800 volunteers took part.

Activities include gardening, painting, special events and fundraisers as part of a day that’s recognized nationally as a day of service.

Participants will be provided with a light breakfast and an event T-shirt.

Assignment packets may be picked up between 9 and 9:30 a.m. on Oct. at one of three locations — Cal Poly’s Chumash Auditorium and two yet-to-be named locations in Arroyo Grande and Paso Robles.

To volunteer, go to volunteerslo.org or call Jackie McCook at the Cal Poly Center for Community Engagement at 756-5120.
