The Paso Robles school board announced the four finalists for the vacant superintendent position Friday morning. The candidates — all from outside San Luis Obispo County — are Rich Merlo of Corcoran Unified School District, Hugo Pedroza of Lompoc Unified School District, Cynthia Toews of St. Helena Unified School District and Chris Williams of Central Unified School District. The board will conduct a series of interviews with the candidates over the next week, including a “stakeholder panel” interview, which will also include members of the community and school district members. The candidates are hoping to replace Kathleen McNamara, who retired this year.
