Learn about horses' history in SLO County at Dallidet Adobe

A recent Cal Poly graduate in history will display her senior project “The Evolution of the Horse in San Luis Obispo County” from noon to 5 p.m. July 13 at the Dallidet Adobe and Gardens in San Luis Obispo.

Jennifer Berg will present exhibits that highlight the county’s equine history, including Spanish, Mexican and American periods. The show is free and appropriate for all ages.

Several horse-drawn vehicles will be on display, including a rail car, rural mail wagon, a road cart and carriage.

Additional displays will feature the history of horse racing in California, equine businesses and horses in art and literature.

The Dallidet Adobe is located at 1185 Pacific St. It was the home of Pierre Dallidet, the Central Coast’s first winemaker, and will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. that day for visitors.
