Atascadero police arrest 3 on suspicion of possessing drugs, weapons

Authorities arrested three men Monday after a traffic stop turned up drugs, cash and a stolen firearm, according to the Atascadero Police Department.

John Allen Webb Jr., 27, and Travis Thomas King, 31, both from Atascadero, were booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail along with 31-year-old Eric Lee Juhl of Templeton.

All three remained in custody as of Wednesday evening, according to the SLO County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, an officer pulled a vehicle over on northbound Highway 101 at the Santa Rosa Street exit, according to an Atascadero Police Department news release.

The officer discovered that the driver didn’t have a license and one of the passengers was on probation, the news release states.

Additional APD officers arrived at the scene and searched the vehicle; they found cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, several firearms, ammunition and cash, the news release states.

Police said one of the firearms had been reported stolen during a burglary in SLO County. The total street value of the drugs seized was estimated at approximately $10,000.

The men face potential charges that could include possession of a controlled substance for sale, illegal transportation of narcotics for sale and possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm.

Webb’s and Juhl’s bail amounts were listed at $50,000, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Because of the additional possible charge of felony probation violation, King’s bail stood at $65,000 as of Wednesday evening.
